School Lunch and Breakfast Program

Camden Elementary’s cafeteria provides nourishing and well-balanced meals for students, visitors and staff.  While students are encouraged to eat the school lunch provided, they may also bring lunches from home.  Glass containers, candy, and sodas are discouraged.  Breakfast and lunch will be free this year.

Breakfast is served in the classroom/hallway from 7:00 to 7:30 each morning.  If we have late buses, we will keep the cafeteria open until all children have been served.  Children pick up their breakfast as they arrive at school and will eat their breakfast in the classroom or in the hallway.  We ask that children do not bring fast-food breakfasts to school.

Lunch Applications/ Lunch Accounts

All students in Kershaw County School District will receive free breakfast and lunch during the 2023-2024 school year as part of the Community Eligibility Provision program.

The Community Eligibility Provision, a key allocation of The Healthy, Hungry-Free Kids Act of 2010, eliminates the requirement for parents/guardians to fill out Free and Reduced Meal applications for the upcoming school year.

Next year, families that would like to add money to their child's meal account for the purchase of additional food items during the school year can do so using MySchoolBucks.com or by sending payment to the school.

Lunch with Students

We are excited to welcome families into our school to eat lunch with our CES Colts.  Please follow the cafeteria routines, procedures and expectations we have set.

  1. All lunch visitors will need to bring identification and check in at the front office to receive a visitor’s badge.
  2. All lunch visitors will also need to be listed as a contact in Powerschool for the child they are visiting.
  3. Please email our lunch coordinator, jennifer.hetrick@kcsdschools.net or call us at 803-425-8960 to let us know you plan to eat lunch with your child at least one day prior to your visit.  (This allows us time to prepare a space for you in the cafeteria)
  4. Parents should arrive at your child’s exact lunch time to ensure that we keep all students on schedule.  All students must eat at their designated lunch time.
  5. Our school will have a special eating area for you and your child when you visit.  Due to space constraints, please limit guests to 2 per student/per visit.
  6. You are welcome to purchase food in our cafeteria or bring food from home.  The cost for a parent lunch is $5.35.
